Abstract: Correct accounts of neurophysiology found in ancient yogic texts, which have been overlooked or misunderstood by Western scholars, are presented. The vital energy activating the nervous system (Prana) is electrical in nature and is a part of the cosmic energy which activates everything in nature. In the body, 10 subdivisions of Prana perform the same functions as the autonomic and somatic motor and sensory systems. The 6 chakras in the Susumna are nervous structures physically present in the neural axis. They are connected by ascending and descending tracts and make intersegmental connections within the spinal cord. They perform specific physiologic functions allotted to them, e.g., sexual functions controlled by Manipoor chakra. To obtain correct information on Yoga scientists must study original Yoga texts.
