Abstract: Comments on an article by R. V. Behere et al. (see record 2011-00933-009). We have read with interest the article 'Effect of yoga therapy on facial emotion recognition deficits, symptoms and functioning in patients with schizophrenia' by Behere et al., published in the February 2011 issue of Acta Psychiatrica Scandinavica. Yoga is a traditional Indian system used in alternative and complementary medicine, and it is very important to study its usefulness in health care including mental health care. Hence, it is an important piece of research especially for the Indian subcontinent and similar world regions where the burden of mental illness is high and the resources are relatively sparse and centered on the urban population. However, while interpreting the finding of the above article, we find some methodological issues that need clarification or discussion. These issues are detailed.
