| Abstract: | Anomie, in the social sciences is defined as a state of "normlessness," absence of agreed values, or confusion about values in society reflecting a breakdown of common standards of behaviour and morality. The present study was conducted to examine anomie among the Information Technology (IT) employees who spend most of their time working on computers. The study also examined the relationship between Anomie and achievement motivation. The sample consisted of 51 IT employees working in India and abroad. The findings of the study show that females have high Anomie scores than males and employees who are staying in India have higher Anomie and Achievement motivation when compared to the employees who are staying in abroad. The other biographical variables like Income, experience, education and marital status had no significant influence on Anomie and achievement motivation. It was assumed that Anomie would have significant relationship with achievement motivation, but there is no such significant relation found from the study. |
