Abstract: Organizational culture can be examined from different frameworks and Individualism-Collectivism (I-C) appears to be one of them. The present study is an attempt to assess cultural preferences of young employees of emerging Indian organizations in terms of I-C. A total of 100 employees from three types of organizations -Information Technology (IT), Fast Food (FF) and Call Centre (CC) participated in the study. The present study also aimed at exploring vertical and horizontal aspects of I-C. The I-C tool by Verma (1999) was used to measure cultural preferences of the participants in terms of 16 familiar situations. Results are interpreted and discussed with the help of frequencies and one-way ANOVA. Except the Call Centre industry, in the two other industries participants preferred collectivist response patterns more than individualist one. In the Call Centre context, both response patterns were equally present. However, in the overall analysis collectivist response patterns appeared more than individualistic one.
