| Abstract: | Anxiety is one of the dominant symptoms in end of life care. It can be managed by various therapeutic methods, such as anxiolytic drugs, support psychotherapy, a caring relation, and complementary approaches such as massage, relaxation, and sophrology. One of the aims of sophrology is to decrease the level of anxiety. Thus, the sophrologist teaches the person he treats appropriate techniques facilitating physical, emotional, and cognitive relaxation. This article illustrates the contribution of sophrology in the management of anxiety in terminal care, and shows that this practice goes beyond the symptom and allows the patient to gain a new perspective on her life, herself, her loved ones, and her capacity to face illness and death.
