Abstract: In response to its soteriological purposes yoga has developed a peculiar psychology whose primary objective is liberation. Mind is considered as a complex and dynamic reality. The goal of yoga is restriction and dissolution of all mental content and processes from the most gross (vrtti) to very subtle (samskara, vasana, klesa), which comprises conscious, subconscious and superconscious level of the mind. This leads to total freedom from the limitations of the mind and from our virtual psycho-physical identity. At this point our authentic timeless identity (Purusa) is realized. It is the Experience which transcends all other experiences and belongs to the level of Ineffable.
