| Abstract: | Presents a model for mental reactions based on the first and second laws of thermodynamics. The model indicates that the driving energy of a mental process consists of a person's initial motivation plus or minus a contribution made by the change of structural order in his mind. In altered states of the mind (e.g., dreams), when image-structures are transferred from the unconscious to the consciousness this contribution is statistically based and is apparently indeterministic.
