| Abstract: | Presents an alternative paradigm for quality of work life (QWL) based on Indian psychophilosophy. It is suggested that traditional, materialistic concepts of human striving (e.g., self-actualization, Adler's will-to-power) should be replaced by will-to-meaning, which may be achieved through the use of yoga, in order to achieve a higher QWL. Case illustrations are included, as are discussions of transcendence of pleasure and pain, natural vs optimal humans, education or training, survival of the fittest or all, the quality of domestic life visa-vis QWL human resource or response, differentiation vs unity, self-actualization vs self-transcendence, and sense of freedom or freedom from.
