| Abstract: | In the survey, the author reviews various types of self-contemplation. First, he reports on methods of self-contemplation as practiced within the framework of different ethnic civilizations. The Asian types of meditation, and meditation as part of Christian religion. Critical comments are offered on "Transcendental Meditation", particularly with regard to its limitation to a single yoga exercise, its commercial tendencies and the risks associated therewith. After a brief historical outline, the various passively autohypnoid methods are described. This is followed by a detailed expose of the actively autohypnoid methods, which, in the author's opinion, include: progressive relaxation (Jacobson), autogenic training (J. H. Schultz), graduated active hypnosis (E. Kretschmer), active regulation of feeling tone (Stokvis), childbirth without fear according to Dick-Read, psycho-prophylaxis (Velvovski), and active relaxation treatment (Faust). Autogenic training and graduated active hypnosis are dealt with in great detail, in view of the fact that the author was able to collect extensive experience with these two types of treatment. The specialty of the actively hypnoid methods is represented by the fact that the patient must learn to perform a number of exercises before realization of self-contemplation. The author always combines graduated active hypnosis with conflict-centered analysis, a procedure originally developed by E. Kretschmer, also known as "double-track standard method of Kretschmer". The author considers it to be particularly important to show that self-contemplation originates from a basic desire inherent in man, and that in all civilizations and at all times, methods of self-contemplation have been used, the individual differences between the various civilizations becoming manifest in the differences between the methods employed.; In einem Übersichtsreferat werden verschiedene Formen der Selbstversenkung und Entspannung systematisch dargestellt und hinsichtlich Indikation und Kontraindikation, Durchführung und besonderer Schwierigkeiten besprochen. Sowohl aktive als auch passive autohypnotische Verfahren werden berücksichtigt. Autogenes Training und gestufte Aktivhypnose werden aus der persönlichen Erfahrung des Autors ausfuehrlich dargestellt. |
